Obituary of Muriel (Albert) Tucker

Muriel (Reid) (Albert) Tucker departed this life and entered into the presence of her Lord on the 24th day of April, A.D. 2024.  Her spirit lingered in her strong earthly tabernacle until one month short of her 99th birthday.

Muriel was the fourth child born in the old family homestead between Bloomfield and Norton.  Her father, Ivan W. Reid, a returned WWI vet, married her mother, Gladys Rebecca Allaby.  Together, they raised a strong family that served their community and their country.  Her parents taught Muriel to fear God, for in August 1937 Mrs. Phinney of the Norton Baptist Church issued to Muriel a certificate for Bible memorization.  On July 1, 1943 the Board of Education for the Province of New Brunswick issued to Muriel a Teacher’s License “First Class”.  As a young mother in her thirties in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Muriel obeyed the command “Ye must be born again” and put her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Thereafter, Muriel walked with the Lord on a daily basis.

Muriel is survived by her daughter, Shelley Beatrice Thiessen, and by her son, Richard James Albert (Shu-chin).  Muriel cherished and was cherished by her children and by her grandchildren, Adam and Richard Doris and Grace and Joseph Albert.  Muriel will be missed by her dear brothers, Ian Reid, and William Reid, and by her dear sisters, Susan Sharpe and Alberta Jamer, and by numerous nephews and nieces.

Muriel’s husband, Charles Tucker, predeceased her, as did her first husband, Jacques Réal Albert.  Mary Hazel, her little sister, was taken from her in 1941.  Muriel’s siblings that went before her are her brothers, Edwin Reid, James Reid, Robert Reid, and Peter Reid, and her sisters, Margaret McKenna, Elizabeth Brown, and Nancy Waters.

Muriel’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to Gloria and the staff at Snow Nursing Home in Hampton.   Gloria reports, “I stayed until Muriel left the building.  We, the staff, had the Honor line with candles.  I saw Muriel to the car and covered her with our lovely handmade ‘Bed of Pansies’ quilt.”

Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541) have arranged the funeral at 1063 Main Street in Hampton.  The visitation will commence at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, followed by the service in the chapel at 1:00 PM.  A catered reception will follow in the reception room for all attendees.  All are welcome to follow the hearse to the Riverbank Cemetery in Norton for the graveside service and interment.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water.  Psalm 1:2-3
