Obituary of Melody Lynn Griffin
It is with great sadness that the family of Melody Lynn Griffin announce her passing which occurred on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Halifax, NS on August 19, 1963, she was the daughter of Charles and Sandra (Burgess) Gatzke.
Melody was a dedicated mother, first and foremost, who always went above and beyond what that title meant. She treasured her two boys and wonderful husband and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. Her six, soon to be 7, grandchildren were a big part of her life that kept her busy.
Melody was gifted at trying to build special connections with everyone she met and always made people feel welcome. She used those gifts for God’s work, from her calling and dedication to homeschool her children, to working with the community through The Pregnancy Resource Center and Embertide Church.
Melody had a personality that won’t soon be forgotten. You could see her love and passion through her beautiful paintings and crafty green thumb. She loved God and His children and made a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Melody is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Michael Griffin of Hampton, NB; sons Corey Griffin (Krista) of Hampton, NB and Ryan Griffin (Courtney) of Nauwigewauk, NB; cherished grandchildren: Elijah, Westley, Ben, Brooks, Lily and Cruz; brother Greg Gatzke of Port Mouton, NS; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, where visitation will be held on Friday, April 19 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Embertide Church, 14 Centennial Road, Hampton, NB.
