Obituary of Clydetta O'Dell

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Clydetta May O’Dell announce her death, which occurred on November 7, 2023, at the Sussex Health Centre. Clydetta was born in Great Falls, MT, on May 19, 1943, a daughter of the late Clyde and Cleta (Page) Iverson. 

Clydetta was born to be a teacher. When she was a young girl her choice of play was school. Her first official teaching position was in Aleknagik, Alaska where she taught for 2 years, then she went to teach school in Barnesville, NB, where she met and married the man God had for her. She retired in 2002 after 27 years of teaching. Before her retirement, her first born son was killed in a tragic car accident near Lake Louise, Alberta. She didn’t give up and put her faith and trust in her loving Savior. In her retirement, she authored 3 books that were short stories about her and her mother, and God’s leading in their lives. She loved her Church and enjoyed serving wherever she was needed, she could be found playing piano, singing, or even preaching occasionally. She wanted all to know the love of Jesus and would share that message wherever she was. Many times, she traveled to see her kids in British Columbia, Tennessee and Florida. When the grand children were born, she was so excited and wanted to get there to see them right away. She was proud of her family and encouraged them to remain faithful to the Lord.

Clydetta will be greatly missed by her loving husband Gary of 55 years on Dec. 15^th; son Eugene O’Dell and his wife Tammy from Talbot, TN; daughter Rosalie Oliver and her husband David from Sebring, FL; grandchildren: Jennifer MacInnis and her husband Jordan, Katelyn O’Dell, Caroline O’Dell, Mallory Oliver and Zachary Oliver: great grandchild Gracie Anne Dawn MacInnis; brother Clyde Iverson and his wife Rhonda from Pendleton, OR; daughter-in-law Rosemarie O'Dell of Richmond, BC, along with nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents, Clydetta was predeceased by her oldest son Martin Ronald O’Dell and sister-in-law Sherry Iverson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM.  The funeral service will take place on Friday, November 17^th at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Barnesville at 11:00am. The interment will take place in the adjoining Cemetery.
