Dear Donna Lee,Tim, Bill and family
What a great sadness to lose Alida. She and Al were the first people we met when my parents and I first moved to the peninsula in 1971.We woke Al up after he worked a night shift when I was stuck in our driveway. And of course as always Alida was with him.I never knew a harder working person than Alida helping Al with everything he did.She loved to dance and enjoyed people everywhere and always had the biggest smile.I know her children and grandchildren were extremely important to her and she loved them dearly. The last year has been tough on her as she was unable to enjoy life as she would have liked

We were so blessed to have Alida (and Al) in our lives. Both with large personalities where being friends extending their kindness was first and foremost.
They will live on in our memories as we continue to remember them as two who truly loved Kingston

Alida was the first person I met when I moved to the peninsula in 1976. She was a very loved and dear friend until her passing. She was the kindest and most loving person, and never forgot a face. She loved cards, music, singing, cooking, pickling, square dancing, traveling and the list goes on. Always a hard worker, and no one would ever have a more devoted friend. She will be missed by my entire family, and my deepest sympathy goes out to all of her family. Love you Alida and may you rest in peace. You were loved by many.

To Alida's lucky family,
What a spark she must have been as you were growing up!
We have wonderful and warm memories of Alida from the Old Market. breakfasts Her home-made bread could not be beat.
Then when she and Alan gave up the kitchen, she was always there perusing the tables to sweep in and give a hug to a familiar face. Her smile could light up a room. She will be sadly missed and we are glad that we knew her.

Tim, Donna, Bill and all of your family
Saying farewell to a mom, a mom in law, a grand mom, a sister , an aunt and a dear friend is a hard journey on the heart. The years of love and of memories, of good times and hard times come flooding in and one wonders how those years could have sped by so quickly. Your loving family support of each other through those years will be the same loving supprt that sees you through the time ahead.. Alida was a gem.....a genuine one at that. She role modeled friendship, the joy of living and loyalty to her family friends and community. Kingston was richer because of her. It was my honour to know her. My sincere love and sympathy to all of you.

It was a sad day to have lost Alida. I have had the honor of caring for Alida during her stay at the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre. She has made her mark on my heart with her beautiful eyes and warm personality. I will forever miss her calling my name when she saw me walk in for my shift. She was always happy and never a negative bone in her body. What a beautiful Mom you must have had. We are feeling the void in our Snow family.

I was lucky enough to work at the snow centre this year and have spend my summer with Alida. She welcomed me with open arms from my very first day and had breakfast and lunch dates with me ever since. The love she showed a complete stranger in the form of a teenage girl was something i’ll never forget. The best part of my days were always walking into the centre at breakfast and hearing a sweet “hi there” from the corner, singing old country songs together and of course talking about how George Jones is the best. Alida made such an impact on my life from the moment I met her and taught me how much you can love someone you only just met. While her sense of humour was often dry one of my favourite memories was when i teased her one day when checking her room on our way to lunch, as we did everyday, and said is there a dinosaur in there? she told me yes and from that day on we checked each day for the dinosaur she affectionately named crocodile sometimes telling me he was hiding under her bed and that’s why we didn’t see him. She always made sure to feed into whatever goofiness i came up with that day. My condolences to her family during this difficult time, and my sincerest gratitude for sharing your angel with me.
