Mr Keirstead - as we knew him - was an amazing teacher. He taught my older sister and I at Champlain Heights Public School in the 60's, and he was not just our math teacher, but our home room teacher. I just came across this obituary now, and wanted to add what a huge and wonderful affect he had on us. He took the time to make sure people understood the "new math," he was so kind, so patient, and so dedicated. He was a fine example of everything a teacher should be. Sending our deepest condolences to his family.

We were saddened to read the obituary for your brother David.. We recall meeting him through our Baptist Association events and when Bloomfield Church partnered to support a newcomer family from Syria. We are grateful for David's life of service and his investment in the lives of others. We are grateful that David was following the Lord Jesus. We are also grateful for the words of the Lord Jesus, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me though he die yet shall he live. " John 11:25.
We are remembering you in prayer.

I am saddened to learn of David’s passing but pleased for him that his struggle and pain are ended. David was a dear, supportive, and trusted friend. For many years at Kings County Museum, Arthur and I looked forward to David’s weekly visits on Monday morning. His contribution of meticulously researched local history was a great source for those curious about their area or family. My condolences to David’s family and friends. Dear David’s Family and Friends, Please accept my love prayers and condolences on the passing away of David . You all have wonderful memories to cherish in your hearts forever . David was an amazing man of so many talents which he shared in his teaching career , in his music , playing at so many churches ,his storytelling, his knowledge of history especially in his column in the Hampton Herald and not to forget the Book of Hampton that he wrote not that long ago . Especially , I do appreciated him for his volunteering at The Dr Snow Centre for years , for sharing his hug hooking - wall hanging , the tartan that he created , his talents go on and on , his history sessions with the residents & leaving me with so much knowledge - of his collections of materials Always in our hearts never forgotten.I admired David greatly , always remembering his kindness and strength through his struggles with his mobility, many times he refused a ride as he walked up the hill to Ossekeag place and putting his best forward and keeping his sense of humour through adversity . Love you David! Rest In Peace my Friend! Another Special
angel In Heaven !

I shall miss David immensely. I first came to know him at Ossekeag Publishing when he wrote local history articles for the Hampton Herald. I remember vividly a day he came in singing Old MacDonald Had a Farm and told me to think of him when I heard the song. Confused, I asked and why is that? He went on to the verse "E-I-E-I-O" and pointed out that we had misspelled Keirstead as Kierstead in his most recent article. From then on I never forgot he was K-E-I not K-I-E and smile and think of him whenever I hear that refrain. More recently I have worked at the Kings County Museum and had the pleasure of many conversations with David. He has been my "go-to" guy on local history questions and I will miss him dearly. If you are familiar with the old African proverb "When an old man dies a library burns to the ground" it is very appropriately applied the David. A truly lovely man.

Our sincere condolences to David’s family. David was a wonderful addition to the Romero House family of volunteers and always had a great story or a bit of insight to share. We were all sad that he had to stop volunteering because of health concerns but we remained in touch over the years. His letters and notes always began with Dear Evelyn and anyone else there who may still remember me….we always did.

Sad to read of the passing of David. I have 2 of David's book about Hampton. I live on Keirstead Ave & would see & say hi as he walked up & down Keirstead all the time. He could do that hill much easier than me! Hampton has lost another wonderful Hamptonian. My deepest condolences to David's families.
