Obituary of Alice Hanlon

It is with great sadness that the family of Laura Alice  Hanlon announce her peaceful passing, which occurred at home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in Hampton, New Brunswick. Born in Kingston, NB on August 16, 1929, Alice was a daughter of the late James and Laura (Braman) Dann.

Alice is survived by her children: Allison Hanlon (Fran) of Truro, NS, James Hanlon (Karen) of Quispamsis, NB, Nancy Coleman of Lower Norton, NB, and Faye Alden (Gene) of Hampton, NB; grandchildren: John (Amber), Rosalie (Joseph), Jeana (Syoma), Luke (Jill), Erin (Jeff), Josh (Kim), Ben, and Meghan (Dave); 11 great grandchildren; siblings: Ida Neill, Dorothy Friars and Phil Dann (Kathleen); sisters-in-law: Nancy Dann, Shirley Bettle (Hap) and Ellen Hanlon; special “daughter”, Susan Kelly (Leo); along with many extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her loving husband, Lloyd Hanlon; siblings: Henry Dann, John Dann, and Mary Bird; as well as many predeceased loved ones.

Family and faith were the two most important things to Alice, which was demonstrated in the compassion and love she had for everyone around her. Growing up, Alice enjoyed family life at the farm and loved to share her wonderful memories later in life. She began teaching at an early age in a one room school. She always had a heart for the youngest students and even into her older years would light up as soon as a baby came into the room. Alice and Lloyd enjoyed travelling with friends, taking day trips with family and spending summers on the Belleisle Bay. In her spare time, she would knit, cook and garden. Alice loved her flower gardens and watching birds. She could always be found serving her family and friends, making sure that they were happy and well fed. Alice was a kind, giving and selfless person. She will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Robert Fisher as well as Alice’s home care workers for the special care they provided over the years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 26, at 2:00PM at the Trinity Church in Kingston, NB, with an interment at Titus Hill Cemetery in the spring.
