It’s taken me sometime to be able to post my condolences. Opal, you and your family have my deepest sympathies at this difficult time, and I know your wonderful memories of Harold will sustain you.
How do you say goodbye to a longtime good friend? Again, it’s the great memories, and fun times we’ve shared over so many years. I can’t help but smile when think I think of him, especially some of our trips together, like Greece. Those memories will always have a special place in my heart.

Opal I was so sorry to hear about Herald. As you know we often made promises to get together, but seldom met as there was always 'later'. We met in High School and Herald took me under his wing both on the hockey rink and cruising around town.
The Maritimes is a small place and fortunately our path crossed from time to time. He was a great storyteller and could quickly point out the ironies in our workplaces whether with digital mapping or the redevelopment of federal lands. He was always a joy to run into as he always seemed to have a project in the works. He was a steadfast alumni of the 'Class of 1965' and always made me proud to be from Bathurst.

Opal and family,
I worked for several years with Harold at the Land Registration Regional office in Halifax. He was a skilled manager of people and his philosophy of management influenced me for the rest of my career. He always put his staff first. His humour was unforgettable and I still chuckle as I recall how he always "told it like it was". He will be greatly missed. Sincere condolences to you all.

Opal and Family, so sorry to hear this. I will miss Harold's visits to our office and the conversations we had. He always had news to share about his visits about town and of course political chats were always on the agenda. He loved to chat and we soon learned that when he called to come in for "a minute of your time" it was actually an hour of great conversation. We will miss him. I know that the past year has been difficult for you and our prayers are with you.
