Although I have not lived in Hampton for nearly 40 years I remember Peter (and Thelma) fondly as intelligent, interested and active people in the community. It is nice to see the Hampton families whose friendship was alive and well when we lived there stayed with him all this time. I miss that place!

I wish to send my condolences to Peter's friends and family whilst dealing with his passing. It is with sorrow that I send this message. My personal memory of Peter was since the mid 70's at SJ Drydock when he looked after our interests. I continued to see Peter and Alison at various functions including occasional dinners in Knightville. Peter was always a very pleasant dinner companion. I loved seeing Peter driving his Mini. You will be missed very much Peter.

My condolences to Peter's friends and family. I had the honour of sharing a table on Town Council with Peter these last 6 years. A true gentleman, he approached his role as Town Councillor with passion and dedication. I will miss hearing his stories about post-war Germany, working at JDI Shipbuilding and sharing the occasional beer - it was always German beer, of course!

When I was 10 years old, I was a paper boy. Peter was one of my first clients. When delivering Peter’s paper, Peter would greet me and walk me around his yard, offering me different berries and vegetables from his garden. His dog would pee on my bike while I was out walking around so Peter would always clean my bike. One day, I borrowed my brothers bicycle, the dog peed on it and Peter said “oh I’ll wash it for you” and I quickly responded “don’t bother, it’s my brothers bike.”
Peter would always refer to that story when introducing me to people throughout the years. I’m so sorry to hear about his passing, he will be greatly missed.
