It is with great sadness, the family announces the death of Sadie Melissa (Roberts) Thompson of Hampton, NB, wife of the late Lawrence W. Thompson, on Thursday, November 20, 2014 which occurred at Whitehall Estates Special Care Home. Born in Long Point, NB, she was a daughter of the late Reuben and Clarabel (Norman) Roberts. She was a lifelong resident of Long Point and influenced the lives of many children as a teacher at Darlings Island, Kiersteadville and Belleisle Elementary from where she retired in 1985. In retirement she enjoyed gardening, crafts, watching the birds but most of all she enjoyed being with her family. Sadie is survived by her son, David and Beth Thompson of Saint John; daughter, Thresa and Abel Bastarache of Quispamsis; grandchildren: Cynthia (Keith) Charlton, Kimberley Thompson, Donna Chantler, Susan (Mike) Keith, and Corey (Crystal) Chantler; great-grandchildren, Patrina and Abbigail Keith and Everly Chantler; sisters, Rita Munro and Laura Stockdale; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Sadie was predeceased by her sisters, Hilda and Elsie Roberts; brothers-in-law, Joseph Munro and Austin Stockdale; and nephew Richard Stockdale. A special heartfelt thank you to the angels of Whitehall Estates for all the kind and gentle care given to Sadie. To Evelyn and Margo, you were very special friends. Thank you to Jeff Boyd and Len Goobie for her last drive to Hampton. She is resting at Reid’s Funeral Home, 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, (506) 832-5541, with visitation on Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. Paul Smith, will be held from Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel, on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11AM. Interment will take place in Hampton Rural Cemetery.
