Obituary of Shirley E. Whittaker

Shirley E. Whittaker It is with heavy hearts, yet knowing she is in the presence of her loving Saviour Jesus, that the family of Shirley Ethel Whittaker of Parkland in the Valley, Quispamsis, formerly of Hampton announce her passing Monday night at Embassy Hall. Born in Kinnear Settlement, NB, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Thelma (Murray) Chapman. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ronald A. Whittaker, also son; John Tremblett (Shari), 2 sisters; Josephine Kiss of Petitcodiac and Anah LeClair of Angus ON and 2 grandchildren; Josiah and Hannah. Shirley was predeceased by a son; Stephen Whittaker, 3 sisters; Lois Goddard, Marge Sharpe and Winnie Misdorf, 3 brothers; Charles, Fred and Ernest Chapman. The four most important things in Shirley’s life were Faith, Family, Friends and Fun. Her Faith in Jesus gave her strength and comfort on the mountain tops and in the valleys of life. She loved her Lord and is rejoicing in His eternal presence. Shirley was a long-time member of Central Norton Baptist Church and was active in ministry there for many years. She loved to sing whether it was in the choir, or singing solo. She loved her gospel music. Shirley was a loving and devoted wife to her sweetheart Ron "Ronnie" for 60 years. Together they were an example to so many. For many years Shirley was side by side supporting her loving husband in business. A loving, dedicated mother she was to Stephen who she and Ron loved deeply. She loved her Mom, Dad, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and extended family. Later in life she became a loving, caring mom to John (Shari) and grandma to Josiah and Hannah. Friends were many and she cherished each and every one of them. She always enjoyed getting together with her many friends and spoke of them fondly. Fun was always present where Shirley was as she loved to joke, laugh and had a saying for every occasion. Shirley cherished each year she had with Ron. Together they enjoyed many years of traveling with their trailer and being "snow birds". Shirley will be missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel, 2:00 pm Friday, February 8, 2019. Interment will take place at a later date in the Trinity United Church Cemetery Havelock, NB.
