Obituary of Terrence John Rorke

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry (TJ) Rorke on Friday, December 28th at the Palliative Care Unit at Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by family. Terry was born in Toronto on April 7, 1952, a son of the late George and Eileen (Collins) Rorke. Terry is survived by his wife Deborah (Lavigne) Rorke, 3 sons; Shawn Rorke (Sarah) of Barrie ON, Patrick Rorke (Stephanie) of Barrie ON and Bryan Rorke (Jade) of Hampton NB, 2 brothers; Raymond Rorke (Marilyn) of Gravenhurst ON and George Rorke (Kerry) of ON, 4 sisters; Coleen Jackson (Gary) of Barrie ON, Eileen Cross (Kevin) of Barrie ON, Maureen Rorke of Innisfil ON and Kathryn Leeper (Glenn) of Barrie ON and 2 grandsons; Declan and Calum Rorke. In addition to his parents, Terry was predeceased by a brother Bryan. As a young man, Terry had a love of aviation and model building, baseball, and spending time outdoors fishing. He became an Ontario Provincial Police Officer in 1974 and moved quickly up the ranks to become Detective Sergeant, before retiring in 2004 and moving to St. Martin’s NB. After being chased for 4 years, he finally relented and married Deb in 1976. Throughout 42 years of marriage he became the proud father of 3 wonderful sons, Shawn, Patrick, and Bryan; and a loving grandfather to Declan and Calum. He was a man who knew how he liked things to be and would settle for nothing short of perfection. Terry was an animal lover, a voracious reader, and a news junkie. He had an adventurous culinary pallet and was a lover of all things Maritimes. Terry loved to be around his family and was proud of his Irish ancestry, spending many hours online, and in books, researching and cataloguing his family history. Any day, you could find him camped out in his "Ship Room" reading a book or researching his many interests. Terry spent many hours in his garage, meticulously customizing his prized Mustang, and ensuring it was shined to perfection. Terry and Deb were very proud of the various awards they won as members of the Valley Cruisers. Terry was a unique and proud man, deeply loved and respected by family and friends. We will love and always miss you, each and every day. The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff of the Palliative Care Unit of Saint John Regional Hospital. We are so grateful for your kindness and care throughout this difficult time. "TJ, I would follow you to the ends of the world, meaning Hornpayne (haha)! And even now, I will be walking every step with you." – Love you forever, Deb Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 - 8pm.
