Obituary of Kit Newhouse
With much sadness, the family of Kathryn "Kit" Newhouse, announces her passing which occurred peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Montreal, QC, on March 24, 1947, Kit was an orphan who was lovingly adopted by the late Dr. Donald and Phyllis (McVie) Henry who gave her a wonderful youth, growing up in the T.M.R. and in the Laurentians at her beloved Sunny Point on Bark Lake. Kit came to New Brunswick in 1964 to attend university, where she met, married and spent the next 52 years with her husband Jeb.
Kit is survived by Jeb and her children: Jody Newhouse (Robert Sidler) of St. Andrews, NB, Kim Newhouse (Frank Cruz) of Toronto, ON, and Adam Newhouse (Felice Kamminga) of Rothesay, NB; siblings: Peter Henry, Martha Henry and Paul Henry; grandchildren: Alexander Lively and Sebastian Cruz; and her beloved spaniels, Mac and Sam.
Kit unselfishly devoted her entire life to her family and her friends. She was a shrewd judge of character, setting the bar high and always seeing the best in people. Special places and cherished friends were her delights and included: Bark Lake, Shediac, London, Belleisle Bay, Yorkshire, Fox Harb’r and Freeport. Kit was an avid reader who also loved to swim, dance, ski and cook. Throughout her life, Kit always placed a special importance on the education and development of young people and the years when Adam was at RNS were a wonderful period in her life. Kit was unfailingly stoic, never complaining, and even in her most trying moments would say "lots of people are worse off than me".
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 4 to 8PM. The memorial service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00AM from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Hampton, NB.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital for all their care given to Kit and her family. Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.
