Obituary of Donald Tamlyn
It is with sadness, the family announces the death of Donald Wood Tamlyn, of Hampton, NB, age 89, husband of the late Louise (MacKay) Tamlyn, which occurred on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton. He was born on June 22, 1928 in Grand Falls, NB, son of the late Percy and Margaret (Wood) Tamlyn.
Donald is survived by his daughter Karen Tamlyn (Larry) of Fredericton, NB; sons: Michael Tamlyn (Diane) of Halifax, NS, Jeff Tamlyn (Wendy) of Largo, FL; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister Marjorie Morley; companion Faye Napert; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don grew up in Woodstock, NB and went to Horton Academy and Acadia University. In 1948 he was hired by the Bank of Nova Scotia and worked in several places throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, eventually becoming bank manager. He left the bank in 1973 and went to work for Revenue Canada as a tax auditor, retiring from that position in 1993. Don enjoyed wintering in Florida at Embassy Mobile Home Park. He loved to go RVing, hunt, fish, play shuffle board, play cards, dance, and play the spoons. He was famous for his funny hat collection and enjoyed making people laugh. He was a kind, patient, caring, generous man and will be missed by his family and friends.
Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541) 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, are entrusted with arrangements. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 1 to 3PM. Private family interment will take place in Hampton Rural Cemetery.
