So sorry to hear of Mr. Tamlyn's passing. I only met him once when I played the guitar for him and he played the spoons. It was evident from that one meeting what a special relationship he and Karen had. May you all be comforted with wonderful memories of him. I was surprised and saddened to read the Obituary for your dad. I worked with your dad when he was Manager of the BNS on Grand Manan in the 60's. I can honestly say your dad was the nicest manager I ever worked for, and I am confident that all staff would echo this sentiment. I remember a few incidences that make me smile, one being, the day he asked me to type a document he needed "now", and he stayed by my desk while I typed. Of course, I was nervous, made a mistake. His comment, "typewriter making mistakes?" Now, that might not seem like a big deal, but I've worked for others that would have brought a tear or two. Then one day at closing time, when I took the ledgers into the vault, he shut the vault door. I didn't know what to think, being a very shy person at that time, but he soon opened the door. He always made each one of us feel that we were a team, not he and us, but just "us", and as a team we worked together until everything balanced. I should tell you this as it still brings a smile. The first day he arrived at the bank, it was raining and very windy. As soon as he came to the door, and we opened for him, the wind caught his felt hat and it went rolling down across the bank parking lot. We were deeply saddened when he received notice he was being transferred, and the day that he was leaving, he came in to say goodbye. Many tears were shed, and if my memory doesn't fail me now, Barry went to the basement so he wouldn't show his emotions. There was a customer in the bank at that time. I would add that your Mom was lovely and beautiful, and I'm sure they will be greatly missed. I only wish I had made contact with them after I moved to Fredericton. May God bless you and bring comfort and peace at this sad time. I'm sure you have many precious memories that will keep them close.
