What a thrill it was in school in the 1960's, for me to take algebra from Mrs. Hanlon! She was the one of the best teachers Hampton High had. She was so knowledgeable, detailed, endlessly patient, and respectful to all her students, that her classroom was a warm and wonderful learning environment. I treasure my days there. My sincere sympathy to each of you. It was a definite shock to see that your mom had passed away. Your family has been such a big part of my life and I always tried to have even a short visit with your Mom when I was home. She will always hold a special place in my heart. Wish I could be there to give you a hug. Even though our paths haven't crossed directly for years, she always kept me informed about you. I bought one of her quilts and we use it as a spread on our bed. I have always treasured it but will treasure it even more now with many wonderful memories all wrapped up in it. A story for you all to give you a smile - Loretta was a teacher of mine at Hampton High School. I was failing Algebra and we needed Algebra to graduate. Loretta told me that every night before bed I was to tell myself "I love Algebra, I can do Algebra", and to repeat it in the morning when I got up. I actually did this for weeks, plus took extra classes and passed Algebra! Loretta also taught square dancing. The girls were all to make their own dress for a square dance festival in Fredericton. I was having trouble with my dress and Loretta, being an excellent seamstress, told me to bring the dress to her home and she would help me with it which she did. Where she found the time for all the extras she did for her friends and students, I do not know. She was a wonderful lady and a wonderful teacher.

Feeling so sad and empty inside. The lost of Nana (Loretta) is very difficult. She was an important part of my life and I miss her dearly. I will miss my time with her and cherish every moment I've spent with her. I'm glad I was with her in her last hour and I know she is at peace.
