Obituary of James Holland
It is with great sadness the family of James Alexander Holland, age 84, of Salt Springs, NB, announces his passing, which occurred on Monday, August 10, 2015 at his residence. Born on April 22, 1931 in Charlotte County, NB, he was a son of the late Herb and Hazel (Greer) Holland.
Jim was in the R.C.A.F in his earlier years and later drove truck for CNR for many years before operating his own business as a general contractor with his son Sherman. Jim spent his recent years in Florida during the winter months. Jim had a real passion for music; he sang and played guitar at several local hall and community functions with his many friends. Jim always had a big smile and a little story to tell, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
James is survived by his loving companion Freda Cameron; children: Sherman (Susan) of Kingston, NB, Donald (Gwenda) of St. Martins, NB, Rodney (Mary Beth) of Roachville, NB, Barbara McCarry (Dan) of Mississauga, ON, and Tony Holland of Mississauga, ON; sisters, Kathleen Binns of London, ON, and Elva Cochrane (Todd) of Bloomfield, NB; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Bill and Ernest; and sister Margaret Pettinger.
Jim is resting at Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, with visitation on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
