Obituary of Bob Warren
It is with sadness that the family of Robert Andrew Warren announce his passing on December 22, 2024, at Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John, New Brunswick. Born on September 13, 1941, in Devon, England, Bob was the son of the late Andrew and Marian (Morgan) Warren.
Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jill (Paulson) Warren of Hampton, NB (formerly Nottingham, England) and his son Andrew, and his wife Lori of Swift Current, SK; granddaughters, Shelby (Cory) Audette and Jessica Warren. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother Peter Warren and sister Jill Claro.
Bob grew up in Devon England and attended Tavistock Grammar school. At The University of Nottingham he studied Chemistry and then Mechanical Engineering and was where he met Jill. In 1967, at age 25 and newly married, Bob moved to Canada with Jill, taking the penultimate voyage on the passenger liner, The Queen Mary, to take his first full time position (after University) as a mechanical engineer with Renold Chains Engineering in London, Ontario. They moved to Hampton in the mid 1970s.
Bob was a founding member of Hampton Golf Club and enjoyed many years of playing and socializing there. He was also an active member of Hampton Curling Club and The Royal Canadian Legion in Hampton for many years. In England, Bob was active in the Territorial Army as a Reserve in the mechanical engineering division. In Canada he joined the Militia. His time spent as an officer in the RCEME (Royal Canadian Electrical & Mechanical Engineers) was a big part of his life and he took pride in his work and achievements there, spending many weekends on active duty.
For 10 years Bob operated a mushroom farm wholesaling mushrooms all over Atlantic Canada. Over the last 15 years his main passion, and hobby, was Beekeeping and was an active member of NB Beekeepers Association, taking on various roles. His own honey was sold locally. He also very much enjoyed home-brewing. English Springer Spaniels were a well-known sidekick to Bob dating back to his university days.
Special thanks to Dr. O’Brien and the kindness and care Bob received at Saint John Regional Hospital palliative unit and Bobby’s Hospice.
