Obituary of Gerald Sanford Myers
It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald “Gerry” Sanford Myers announce his passing which occurred on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Parrsboro, NS, on June 25th, 1946 he was the son of Conrad and Georgina (Sal) Myers.
Gerry worked on the Princess Acadia for over 40 years. Gerry was happiest when he was playing the guitar and seeing his grandchildren. He spent many years enjoying playing baseball with his brother-in-law John and his son Gerry. He always knew how to put a smile on your face and was making everyone laugh even in his last moments.
Gerry is survived by loving wife of 55 years, Paddy (Walker) Myers of Norton, NB; children: Gerry Myers (Fonda) and Terri Mercer (Shawn); grandchildren: JR, Codie (Cayla), Bobbi-Jo (Thomas), Ryan, Kathryn (Marcus), Katelyn, Danielle (Matt), Nick (Tasha), Nicky and Mya; great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Avaleigh, Myla, Caeden, Savannah, Brayden, Aubrey, Lexi, Dexter and Kai; sisters-in-law: Susan Ward and Monica Walker; brothers-in-law: Rick (Sue) Walker and Danny Knox; special niece Tara who has always been there for him and nephew Butch; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Gerry is predeceased by his mother and father-in-law Robert and Teresa Walker; sister Dorris (Ronnie) Ward; brothers: Cecil Wilcox, Calvin Wilcox and Banford; nephews: Ronnie (Bubby) Ward and Darrell Ward; son-in-law Douglas Mercer; brother-in-law John Walker; and sister-in-law Linda Knox.
Gerry’s family would like to thank the staff on 4C North of Saint John Regional Hospital, a special thank you to Barry, Megan, Patti, Sydney, Jessica and Monica who went above and beyond to take care of Gerry during his stay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541) 1063 Main Street Hampton, NB, where they will be held privately.
