Obituary of Allen Stackhouse
It is with great sadness that the family of Whitfield Allen Stackhouse announce his passing which occurred peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Lower Kars, NB, on May 31, 1931, he was the son of the late George Whitfield and Irene Ella Mae (Allen) Stackhouse.
Allen was a devoted husband, father, & Papa who loved his large family. Over the years he enjoyed sharing the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sports, music, graduations etc.
He was a machinist by trade and an employee of Bechtel, in 1960 building the Irving Oil Refinery then employed at the Refinery as a general Foreman for many years.
Allen was a master at carpentry making many items for his family and friends with great skill, from furniture, toys and musical instruments. He was self-taught on the fiddle and guitar and enjoyed making them. He was also a teacher. Allen had great joy sharing his music in Florida or the local music scene with Margie. He was a golfer and joined the Hampton Golf Club where he played for many years.
Allen is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Margie Stackhouse of Hampton, NB; sons: Dan (Lynn) of Westfield, NB, Brien (Susan), of Bridgetown, NS, Gary (Angela) of Saint John, NB; stepdaughter, Cheryl Pitt (Rick) of Nanaimo, BC, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Russell Stackhouse of PEI and Chester Stackhouse (Jean) of PEI. In addition to his parents, Allen was predeceased by his grandson, Nathaniel Allen Pitt.
The family would like to thank the CAM unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541) 1063 Main Street Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Friday, Dec 20th from 4pm to 7pm from Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel.
