Obituary of Joan Marian Short

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Marian Short (Sudsbear) announce her passing which occurred peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Kingston, NB, on October 10, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George and Desneiges (Daigle) Sudsbear.

 

Joan lived life to the fullest and throughout her journey in life she had many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed overseeing her hobby farm which included cows, chickens and other items such as pickling and making butter. She loved her family gatherings and was a long time member of the Trinity Anglican Church in Kingston and attended often. She had many adventures which included playing pool and even won a trip to Las Vegas, playing Crib, line dancing, Singles Club, and many more. She loved music, travel, bird watching and being around others. She is absent from the body, but present with her Lord.

 

Joan is survived by her children: Leonard Short of Kingston, NB, Louise Short of Lepreau, NB, Velma Byers (David) of Lorneville, NB, Norma Short of Burnaby, BC, Dorothy Rossignol (Mark) of Seeleys Cove, NB, Grace Short of Surrey, BC and Frances Vanier (Dave) of Kingston, NB; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, twenty-seven great great grandchildren; as well as many more extended family, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by the father of her children, Edward Short; five sisters; six brothers; great grandchild Brantley; and a special friend Leo McRae.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541) 1063 Main Street Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec 19th from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, Dec 20th, 2024 from Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel.
