Obituary of Fred Ryan
It is with deep sadness that the family of Frederick (Fred) Ronald Ryan announces his peaceful passing at Agape Hospice in Calgary on December 9th, 2024. Fred was the son of the late Ronald Joseph and Grace Margaret (Ewing) Ryan.
Fred or “Freddy” as he was known in his younger days grew up in Hampton NB. He attended local schools when time permitted. He enjoyed sports, reading, fishing, and other outdoor pursuits. In the late 1970’s he joined the exodus of young people from the Maritimes headed to the west to work. He eventually settled in Calgary working as a residential painter. Fred loved to visit the mountains to fish and camp and readily adapted to the western lifestyle.
Fred is survived by siblings Anne Marshall (Robert) of New Maryland; Stephen Ryan (Anne) of Quispamsis; Mary MacDonald (Barry) of Hampton; and Sheila Martin of Hampton. He was predeceased by his brother Richard and his brother-in-law Joe Martin. Fred is also survived by his daughter Dawn Schneider of Airdrie AB and grandchildren Cole, Cory, Catherine, Caleb, and Michelle.
The family thanks the dedicated staff of Calgary’s Pathways, the Palliative Care home support team, and the healthcare providers at Agape Hospice for their compassionate care and support of Fred during his long period of illness.
Fred will be interred in the Ryan family plot at St. Alphonsus Cemetery NB at a later date.
