Obituary of Blair Dempster

It is with great sadness that the family of Blair Francis Dempster announce his passing which occurred on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Sussex, NB on September 14, 1957, he was the son of the late Hanford & Mary (Richard) Dempster.

Blair was a reliable man. He was always available to help others whether it was staying late to fix a traveler's car or working on the firetruck when it needed a repair. Blair cherished family, valued hard work, and enjoyed many years of service as a volunteer firefighter. He was happiest when working in the woods and spending time with his grandchildren. 

Blair is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Gloria (Urquhart) Dempster of Upham, NB; his children: Beverly Dempster of Pennsylvania, USA, Justin Dempster (Deedra Asselin) of Moncton, NB, Eric Dempster (Rachel) of Nauwigewauk, NB, Amber Dempster (Gareth Hutton) of Halifax, NS; his precious grandchildren: Adyn, Ben, Gene, Emerick, Elena, Ethan & Willow; sisters: Julie Long (Doug) of Bloomfield Ridge, NB, Brenda Long of Bloomfield Ridge, NB, Carol Dempster (Robert Hayes) of Sussex, NB; brothers Russell Dempster (Mary) of Bloomfield Ridge, NB, and Aubrey Dempster (Kathy) of Bloomfield Ridge, NB; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Blair was predeceased by his brother Ronald Dempster, brother-in-law Bruce Long, and nephew Scott Dempster.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where visitation will be held November 15, 2024, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00am at Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel.
