Obituary of Bob Long

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert “Bob” Ashley Long announce his passing, which occurred on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Snider Mountain, NB, on September 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Frank and Eva (Darling) Long.

Bob loved spending time with his family and always enjoyed being around them in whatever way he could. He loved to hunt and fish and was a great storyteller. Bob was a hard worker and a devoted husband to his wife of 63 years, Louise, who he cherished so dearly.

Bob is survived by his children: Wade Long (Nancy), Mark Long (Kim), Cindy Allaby (Andy), Lisa Yeomans (Greg), and Krista Hanlon; grandchildren: Adam, Matthew, Aaron, Josh, Alex, Johnathan, Jenna, Ashley, Sonya, and Bailey; great-grandchildren: Alexa, Tyce, Neiko, Skyla, Louise, Tyler, Tanner, Dylan, Stetson and Jasper; sister Marion Frail (Ron); son-in-law Joel Hanlon; sisters-in-law: Jane Jeffrey (Ray) and Madeline Mcphee (Randy); along with several other extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Louise Long in 2022; sisters: Florence Keirstead, Elva Morrell, Treva McLeod, Shirley Sommerville and Judy Kelly; brothers: Wilbur Long, Francie Long, Raymond Long and Burton Long.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from Salt Springs Baptist Church, Salt Springs, NB. Interment will follow at Salt Springs Cemetery.
