Terry Roberts

Obituary of Terry Roberts

It is with great sadness that the family of Terrance (Terry) Roberts announce his passing which occurred with his loving wife and best friend by his side on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John, NB. Born in Hampton, NB on January 27, 1954, he was the son of the late Edward and Winnifred (Marks) Roberts.

Terry was a true mans man and had an immense love of nature, was an avid hunter, loved to fish and was a jack of all trades. He was always on point and top of his class.

Terry grew up on a farm with his foster parents, Olive and Glen Mercer in Norton, although he was separated from his other siblings for awhile, later in life he was reconnected with them.

Right out of high school, he began operating and maintaining the drill and water truck with Gyro Exploration. He started as a maintenance supervisor building operator and went to Senneca College to learn HVAC systems, air-conditioning units, refrigeration and ventilation. He ended his working career working in Alberta on the pipelines. He was known throughout his working career as a self-motivated, goal-oriented and organized person. He had a strong work ethic, and many co-workers would fight to be under his supervision as he was so well respected.

Terry loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart and talked about them often. Along with all his nieces and nephews, he would name something about each one and how they all had certain traits about them that he admired. He had many friends who loved and treasured him dearly. One lifelong friend was Danny Thomas for over 40 years. They would reconnect whether it was spending time at Danny and Claires in Norton, or he and Lauralee would join them in NFLD and would have a wonderful time.

He will always be remembered for his spin on words; his beer (aka Wobbly pops) and a conversation will forever be known as “conflabbing”. He was always a pleasure to be around, but if you knew Terry, you would know we would be lying as he could also be very stubborn and hardheaded sometimes. This was especially so when he was trying to teach you something new. He always lived life to the fullest and would experience new things every chance he got.

Terry is survived by his loving partner of 9 years, Laura-Lee Gowlett; his children: Scott McBride (Nadine) of Alberta, Ben Haskill of Ontario, Karlee Haskill of Nova Scotia, Brice Haskill of Ontario, Bryre Haskill of Ontario, and Abby Haskill of Ontario; Step-daughter Sheri Bobbie (Kyle) of Ontario; grandchildren: Brody, Storm, Lincoln, Cameron, Kaelyn & Oakley; sisters: Heather Monahan of Cambridge Narrows, NB and Susan Betteridge of Kingston, NB as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be missed by his fur babies Gordie Roberts and Scamp. In addition to his parents, Terry was predeceased by brothers: Wayne Roberts, Bud Roberts, and Malcolm Roberts; and sisters: Marsha Riley, Joan Tays, and Edwina Roberts.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where all arrangements will be held privately.
