Obituary of Susan Nelson
It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Anne Nelson announces her death which occurred on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Saint John, NB on May 2, 1954, the daughter of the late Edwyn and Nancy (Jones) Wetmore.
She lived in Clifton Royal during her preschool years. The family moved to Hampton, where she graduated from Hampton Consolidated School. She was a graduate of Modern Business College, then worked as a Legal Secretary for over 40 years in Saint John and Hampton.
She was an active member of the Anglican Parish of Central Kings, including the Anglican Church Women, and as a long-term Vestry Clerk. As a member of the Nereides Temple #78 Daughters of the Nile, she dedicated countless hours to the many sewing and other projects, for the benefit of the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Montreal.
She enjoyed many activities which included cooking for others, quilting, travel, relaxing at the lake and most importantly spending time with family. Susan was immensely proud of her Welsh heritage, and most recently enjoyed another trip to Wales visiting cousins.
She will be missed by her loving husband of 44 years, Randy; daughter Jennifer (Jean-Paul Blanchard) of Hampton, NB; brother Richard (Mary Anne) Wetmore; sister Norma (Thomas) Becker; sister-in-law Ruth (Ronald) Gillis; brother-in-law Stephen (Susan) Nelson; along with several nieces and nephews. Susan was predeceased by her parents, as well as Philip Nelson (brother-in-law), and Noella Nelson (sister-in-law).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:00 am from Christ Church, Bloomfield, NB. Private interment to follow at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital for their compassionate care during her brief illness.
