Obituary of Major Eric McCormack C.D. (Retired)

It is with sadness, the family of Major Eric Paul McCormack C.D. (Retired) of Hampton, NB, husband of Dianne (Lethbridge) McCormack announces his passing which occurred on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  He was born June 15, 1944 in St. John’s, NL, the son of the late William and Mary (Kelly) McCormack.

Eric’s service to his country was without hesitation; always an ambassador for Canada.  He respected the flag and his country with great pride.

He loved all social gatherings from a formal military dinner to a campfire.  And he loved to dance.  He found a home in square dancing; making great friends and having lots of laughs and fun.

Above all else, he offered his help whenever, wherever and whoever needed him.

Eric will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Dianne of 45 years; daughters: Michelle Johnson of St. John’s, NL, Shannon McCormack (Darryl Tarrant) of Calgary, AB; son Paul (Silvia) McCormack of Edmonton, AB; grandchildren: Eric, Jamie, Caitlyn, Raina, Cole, Megan; sister Margie Warren; sister-in-law Gay Bradbury (Douglas) of Ridgeway, ON; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Eric was predeceased by his sister Sueanne Robicheau; brothers: William, Ernest, Jim, and David; infant grandsons Andrew & Tyler and son-in-law Max Johnson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, from where visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 4 to 7PM.  A Celebration of Eric’s life will take place on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 11:00AM from Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel.
