Obituary of Dorothy Marshall
It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Ernestine Marshall announce her passing which occurred on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in her 103rd year. Dorothy was born in Saint John, NB on November 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Hart) McFarland.
Mother moved from Saint John to Hampton in the fifties to please her husband, Gordon. She always had fond memories of the North End. Hampton worked out as she got a job at the provincial assessment office where she worked for years, was a founding member of the Hampton Senior’s Centre, curled and attended the Anglican Church on a regular basis. She took care of family and friends and was truly a remarkable person who will be missed by anyone who crossed her path.
Dorothy is survived by her sons Robert (Anne) of Fredericton and Allan of Hampton; grandchildren: Scott (Tracey), Mark (Jessica), and John of Hampton, Nicole (Caleb) of New Maryland, and Michael (Louise) of Toronto; and her namesake, niece Dorothy Price of Quispamsis.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Gordon Marshall, whom she loved deeply. She was also predeceased by her sisters Alice Price, Mary Urquhart, and Hilda Curran of Ketepec and Edna Desjardins of Rothesay, three brothers; Raymond of Ottawa, Russell of Moncton, and George of Saint John, and her very special daughter-in-law, Anna.
The family would like to thank the employees at Shannex - Embassy Hall for all the kindness and care given to Mother. You made the last years of her life comfortable.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm in the Reid’s Chapel. Interment in the Hampton Rural Cemetery will take place at a later date.
