Roland left home at the age of 14 to work in a lumber camp in Quebec. Three years later he returned home and worked on a log drive from Northern NB to Saint John, where he settled down and stayed. Roland worked on many large projects in Saint John, such as the Parkway Mall and Prince Edward Square. He started his career at the Port of Saint John as a CPR Trucker, and in 1978, as part of the “100 Saucy Brats”, he became a proud member of ILA Local 273 until his retirement in 2003.
