Obituary of James Neil Quinlan

It is with great sadness that the family of James “Jim” Neil Quinlan announces his passing which occurred on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at his home in Hampton, NB. Born in Toronto, Ontario on August 16, 1943, he was the son of the late Neil and Bernice (Terry) Quinlan.

In his earlier years Jim worked at the Irving Oil Refinery for 20 years, from which he retired in 1995. He was an active outdoorsman and loved spending his time with a wide variety of outdoor hobbies. In his later years, Jim liked nothing more than cooking for the people he loved and puttering in the gardens with the love of his life. Jim’s love and gift for woodworking spanned his whole life. Those who met Jim knew he had a knack for spinning a great tale……sometimes over and over again.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Leah Quinlan of Hampton, NB; children: Tyra Whelpley (Sean) of Nauwigewauk, NB, Anthony Fillmore of Saint John, NB, Tricia Bolivar (Shawn) of Edmonton, AB, Daniel Obermeier (Debbie) of Sussex, NB and Craig Obermeier (Brandon Richard) of Hampton, NB; brothers: Bob Quinlan (Dorothy), Bryan Quinlan (Judy) and Pat Quinlan all of Ontario; sisters Lenore Webster (Gerry) and Carole Quinlan (Paul Thain) all of Ontario; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
