Obituary of Brian Sheppard

Brian Donald Richard Sheppard, age 83, passed away on December 18, 2023, at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre, Hampton, NB. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Donald & Eva (Bryant) Sheppard.

Brian is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bertha (Doherty); children: Bryan (Shannon), Shane (Melissa) and Maggie (Tony) Robichaud; grandchildren: Madeline, James, Sarah, Kylie and Colton Sheppard and Annie, Sam, Eve and Maria Robichaud; brothers: Bill (Rose) and Murray (Wanda); sisters: Eva (Glen) Fairen and Donna Codner; brother-in-law Garry Mitchell; sisters-in-law: Phyllis (Elward) McMackin, Mildred Doherty and Edna Allen; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Brian was predeceased by his infant daughter Bryanne as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

In his earlier years, Brian enjoyed playing hockey and baseball, hunting, fishing, antique car shows and his beloved Bruins. As a young man, Brian served in the U.S. Army Airborne Division, and served overseas in Laos, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. In later years, he returned to NB and worked as a machine operator and later as a truck driver. He enjoyed people and was always quick to make a joke.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre for their kindness and care given over the years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 11AM - 1PM followed by the funeral service at 1:00PM at Reid’s Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Brian may be made to the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
