Obituary of Carol Long

It is with sadness that Carol Amanda Long’s family announces her death which occurred on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Digby, NS on June 21, 1943, a daughter of the late Ralph and Gladys (Grant) Gates.  

Carol along with her family moved from Nova Scotia at the age of 14 to New Brunswick, Carol met Art in Hampton and married in 1964, raised two children, she worked at Lairds construction and H&R Block, she was an amazing grandmother, her and Art went on many trips together traveling the world. Carol’s life was her family which included many get togethers over the years. 

Carol will be missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Arthur; daughter Nancy (Lloyd) Sherwood of Fairfield, NB; son Steven Long of Moncton, NB; grandchildren: Jocelyn (Josh) Malley, Justin (Lauren) Sherwood, Toni (Martin) Giermindl, Jamie (Warren) Long; great-grandchildren: Jordan Malley, Kurt Giermindl, Joli Giermindl, Atticus Giermindl, Astrid Giermindl, Amelia Sherwood; brother Edward (Dorina) Gates; along with several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 4 to 7 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 11:00AM from Hampton Baptist Church. The interment will take place later in Midland Cemetery.
