Obituary of Gayle Elizabeth Dow

It is with great sadness that the family of Gayle Elizabeth Dow announce her passing which occurred on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Woodstock, NB, on Sept 4, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Burns and Mildred (Northorp) Dow.

Gayle is survived by her brothers: Ronald Dow (Gloria Moore) of Hampton, NB, Donald Dow (Judy Stockdale-Dow) of Sussex, NB, George Dow (Sharon) of Guelph, ON, and Robert Dow of Quispamsis, NB; sister-in-law Charlene Dow; nieces & nephews: Stephen Dow (Lori Whitney), Nicole Dow (Tim Macaulay), Cara-Lee Sharpe (Casey), Andrew Dow (Meghan), Greg Dow (Amy), Glen Dow (Melanie), Don Dow (Terri McLean), Dan Dow (Heather Armstrong), Lisa-Marie Jordan (Mark), Justin Dow and Bradley Bryant (Melissa); best friend Eddie Clark; as well as several other extended family. In addition to her parents, Gayle was predeceased by her infant sisters; sisters-in-law: Merilee Dow and Brenda Dow; and nephew Ryan Dow.

In Gayle’s lifelong career, she did hairdressing, was a missionary, was a literacy instructor, an Awana leader, was a home care worker and a friend to everybody. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Gayle’s homecare workers that she had in the past few years. Also, a sincere thank you to her family Doctor, Dr. Laura McMackin, the Extra Mural team and all the doctors and nurses on 3BN – Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital for all the excellent care given towards Gayle during her stay there. The family would like to thank Pastor Greg Gray for being there for Gayle whenever she needed him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 11:00AM from Hampton Baptist Church. A private family interment will take place at Rothesay United Baptist Cemetery, Gondola Point, NB.
