Wayne, Debbie and families, so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. She was an environmentalist before there was even a word for someone who took care of our environment. I don't know how many times I would run into your Mom on her daily walk as I was walking my dogs and there would be your Mom with garbage bags full of garbage that she had picked up along the road each day!!!! She would always stop to talk to the dogs and see how their day was going. She was always surprised that even if she had not seen them for a while that the dogs would still know her. What a beautiful soul she had. The Bonney Road will never be the same. May she rest in peace. Thinking of her and your families.

I’ve only known Irma for the last 18 years which seems like a short amount of time of her 94 years on Earth and the sheer amount of other people whose lives she touched.
Shortly after meeting my now wife Jamie I quickly came to admire Irma. She always made me feel welcome going down to her Sunday family dinners which she hosted week in week out. We would all hang out in the kitchen afterwards telling stories and sharing laughs. I miss those days. She had these little cream cheese cherry tarts she would make around xmas time, which were nothing short of legendary. She was a frequent contributor to church bake sales, people would drop off huge zucchinis to her house which she’d make these great chocolate muffins she’d give us as treats every now and again.
She was an avid green thumb, she seemed to have a magic touch with growing things in her house and gardens, the plants always seemed to be happy, the birds were always happy too, Cardinals were her favorite. I helped her mow her huge lawn over a few summers, she would insist on doing the push mowing herself. She certainly was a hard worker, loading and stacking her own firewood in the basement. For years she would walk up and down the Bonney Road for exercise, selflessly picking up litter along the side of the road just because it was the right thing to do. Whenever I see litter when walking my dog in Halifax, I think of her and pick it up, thinking "Irma wouldn’t stand for this".
She was very modest, if she was still here she probably wouldn’t want everyone to be making a big fuss over her. I don’t know if I ever heard her speak poorly of anybody or get upset about anything. She had a very kind and gentle light hearted nature. She was an amazing woman and I’m grateful to have known her. May she rest in peace.

My condolences to Irma's family. I've spent 30 years with the Ladies Auxiliary and Irma was a big part of that. She was a very caring person who worked almost every function at the Legion. A Life Membership attest to her hard work. I enjoyed my visits for tea and a chat.

Awww, Deb, I’m so sorry to hear of your Mothers passing. You & Denise spoke of her so frequently at work and her Christmas baking was always appreciated by the staff. To lose a Mother is a terrible experience. I often grab the phone to tell Mum something and then I remember she’s gone. I know you will do that in the days that follow. Your year of “Firsts” is just starting. Please know I’m thinking of you all and I’ll say a prayer for your Mom and you this evening. Much love is being sent to you. ❤️
