Obituary of James Francis Mott

It is with great sadness that the family of James Francis Mott announce his passing which occurred on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on August 29, 1948, he was a son of the late Clarence and Maude (McCormack) Mott.

Jim was a long-time employee of Irving Paper and a proud member and treasurer of CEP Local 601N. Some of his happiest days were spent at his trailer in Shediac playing washers and swimming in the waters of Parlee Beach. Jim was an avid harness racing follower and most at Exhibition Park knew him by name. Being active was an important part of Jim's life playing and watching hockey, baseball, and swimming at the Aquatic Center. Of his many roles husband, father, and grampy were his favorites. Jim never hesitated to help the ones that he loved. Every picture with his grandkids there's an ear-to-ear smile, dimples intact. Jim was so proud of his family and always made sure they knew how much he loved them.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Paulette Mott (LeBlanc); children: Mark Mott (Grace), Jessica Janes (Keith), and Jennifer Mott (Ryan); grandchildren, Emily and Amelia; twin sister, Helen Mott; niece, Kim McGrath (Darryl) and her children; and nephew, Danny; along with several extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Mott.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB and will be held privately in the new year. With Jim’s illness in mind, his family request that you consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (NB).
