Obituary of Lorena Hayes
Surrounded by family at home this past Friday May 13, 2022, Lorena Marion Hayes (Henderson) of St. Martins smoothly snuck back to the waiting embrace of soul mate Patrick Hayes. Rena was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (Martin) Henderson. A lifelong source of support, quiet strength, kindness and empathy to those fortunate enough to know her, Rena took special care in nurturing the growth of children, always keeping an open door and space at her table for any who’d aspire to join. Rena was a member of the St. Martins Seniors and St. Williams Church. She enjoyed bingo, knitting, Old Home Week festivities, and was at her happiest and most fulfilled in the presence of her loving family.
Rena is survived by her children, Warren Hayes of St. Martins, Patrick Hayes (Ivy) of St. Martins, Murray Hayes (Sandra) of Carsonville, Sharon Hayes of Calgary, Randy Hayes (Leah) of Calgary, and Shelly Clayton of St. Martins; son-in-law, Peter Taylor of Richmond, QC; siblings Harold Henderson (Beryl), Kenny Henderson, Jim Henderson, Irma Floyd, and Marilyn Bennett (Cliff), all of St. Martins; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Rena was predeceased by her son James Hayes; daughter Susan Taylor; son-in-law, Ron Clayton; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hayes; and siblings Helen Brown, Alma Loughery, Norma Hayes, George, Ralph, and John Henderson.
A visitation for Lorena will take place at Saint Williams Catholic Church, St. Martins, NB, on Friday, August 19th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will also be held from Saint Williams Catholic Church on Saturday, August 20th, 2022 at 4:00 PM. Interment will be at Saint William’s Cemetery, St. Martins. For those who wish, remembrances to Saint William’s Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
