Catherine Mitton

Obituary of Catherine Gladys Mitton

It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine “Cathy” Gladys Mitton (Smith) announce her death, which occurred on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the Curtlin Manor, Hampton, NB. Born in Sussex, NB, on June 11, 1959, she was a daughter of Margaret (Dann) Smith and the late Donald Smith.

It is with great sorrow we say farewell to our daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.

Cathy grew up in Belleisle Creek surrounded by her loving family. She was an amazing person with a deep sense of love and loyalty to all. Her sons, Jake and Jamie and grandchildren, Alyssa, Hunter and Elijah, were the ultimate joys in her life. She loved them fiercely and without reservation. "Her family made her shine best" describes Cathy.

Cathy will always be remembered for her large laugh, huge hugs and the smile that radiated her love to us all. She loved listening to her boys play in their band, and spent many hours listening to them practice in her basement.  She loved our family record parties, sitting around the campfire at either Hillsdale or Elm Brook School, listening to her brothers and sisters play guitar and sing her favorite songs. She loved us all, and we loved her.

A candle went out when she left  us, but the flame will burn eternal in our hearts. May you find peace now Cathy and know we will meet again as "The Perfect 10". Farewell for now and know we will always hold you near.

Cathy is survived by her sons: Jamie Kingston (Chelsey) of Saint John, NB and Jake Kingston (Julie) of Baxters Corner, NB; grandchildren: Alyssa, Hunter and Elijah; brothers: William (Betty Lou) Smith of Belleisle Creek, NB and Lloyd (Heather) Smith of Hampton, NB; sisters: Betty Paynter of Stratford, ON, Eleanor Shephard of Hampton, NB, Patricia Totton of Saint John, NB, Phyllis Fisher (Ivan Mullin) of Upper Coverdale, NB, Donna (Brian) Nash of Maquapit Lake, NB, May (Todd) Wells of Kingston, NB and Kathleen Smith (Bruce Devlin) of Sussex, NB; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where services will be held privately.
