Gloria, we are best friends, actually more like sisters, and the recent passing of your dear mother was sad, but also life-affirming because of your mother's years of total commitment to her family, her friends, her community and her faith. Her's was indeed a 'life well-lived'! She was funny, bright and loving and so tuned-in to every thing, both her actual community and the global community. She worked hard her entire life and made a huge difference in so many lives. Not only will she be remembered with love and respect, but she will be greatly missed by anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Dear Gloria and family, God bless you as you celebrate having such a wonderful person in your lives (moms are usually the biggest person in our lives) and as you grief your loss. I was very curious and looked forward to meeting Gloria’s mom at Dr Snow Centre (what sort of amazing person could be responsible for such an amazing person?). I wasn’t disappointed. To Gloria, Paulette, Larry and family,
We’ve all known your mum ever since she and your dad came to Hampton. She was always such a beautiful person, inside and out. Remembering your mum today, one very happy memory that we shared was Alan (dad) arriving home with Elsie on the back of his motorcycle, saying to Anita (mum), “look who I found!” She had her high boots on and was loving every minute of it! She was a wonderful lady!

Hi Gloria, I was saddened to see the passing of your mother. I didn’t know your mother that well, but from what I did know and could see, you are a lot like her. The characteristics that you spoke of your mom having, we all see that you have the very same ones. I have known you to be so compassionate and kind to all the people whom you have had dealings with. Your smile is definitely your mother’s!! Yes, you will miss her everyday and that is all well and good, but she is with all her loved ones and friends now for all eternity. We that are left behind are saddened for ourselves as we miss them, but I am happy for your mom as she is with her Lord, and she is free of all the diseases and problems that she endured in this life. I was very saddened to hear of your mom's passing. Elsie had a great spirit I loved to hear her tell of many of her life experiences especially of the "olden" days in NFLD. When it came to her children, Gloria, Paulette and Larry no one could be prouder than Elsie. She had a keen mind and could keep you abreast of all the actuvities and accomplishments of her family, right down to the great grandchildren! Although the ones living in Alaska and Tennessee were far from her I can attest to the fact you were close to her heart. As one of her care givers I was amazed that if she was expecting a call from Nashville or Alaska she wouldn't be talking with her "night wear" on! Elsie would be fashionly dressed waiting to take the call with the same ceremony as if she was welcoming the Queen. She loved you all! You will miss her and I extend my condolences to all of you.
