Obituary of Joan Miller
It is with great sadness, the family of Joan Isobel (Walls) Miller, wife of Bertram Miller of St. Martins, NB announces her death which occurred on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born on April 21, 1925 in Saint John, NB, the daughter of the late William and Laura (Woodrow) Walls.
Joan graduated from Saint John High School in 1941 and then was employed as a stenographer with Furness, Withy & Company Limited until her marriage to Bertram on April 26, 1950. Joan is survived by her husband Bertram; daughter Joanne (David Hinton) of New Maryland, NB; son Donald Miller of St. Martins; sister-in-law Barbara McIntyre of St. Martins; two granddaughters Holly and Leslie Hinton, two nieces, three nephews and six great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Kenneth, Bruce and Robert (Jack) Walls and sister Gwendolyn Walls.
Joan was an active member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in St. Martins and kept very busy volunteering in the community.
In keeping with Joan’s wishes cremation has taken place. Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will take place at Reid’s Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb 26th, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the Extra Mural Program, Kennebecasis Valley Unit as well as the nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital.
