Obituary of Bessie Ella Kincade Erb
Bessie ("Betty’) Ella Kincade Erb of Passekeag, passed away quietly on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at the home of her son Arnie and wife Marguerite of Lakeside, NB, at the age of 87 years.
Born in Codys, Queen’s County, Betty was the sixth of the 14 children of James and Daisy (Browne) Kincade. She spent her growing up years on the family farm at Codys near Washademoak Lake and later, on the Kingston Penninsula when her father took up farming there. She loved country life, gardening and had many pets over the years. She enjoyed baking and preparing Sunday dinners for her large family. She was noted for her sugar donuts and dark fruit cake which she made for weddings of family members and at Christmas.
She is survived by four sons Arnold (Marguerite) of Lakeside, NB, Douglas (Vicki Goodwin) of Burlington, ON, Reginald of Jacksonville, FL, Tony (Sybil Francis) of Calgary, AB and two daughters Theresa Erb of Moncton, NB and Marsha Erb (Tom Haney) of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by four sisters Doris McLean, Fredericton, Vera Erb (Murray Chappell) Moncton, Velzora (Ken) Todd, Saint John and Joanne (Doug) Manning of Mississauga. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren Victoria (John) Keirstead, David (Jackie) Erb, Tara and Trisha Erb, Cynthia Beyea (Daniel Descôteaux), Jacquie (Gary) Drew, Angela (Ron) Boudreau, Tracy (Chad) Bolger, Douglas, Joshua, Rachel and Dylan Erb, 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her seven year old son Gary James Erb in 1955 and the father of her seven children, Cyril Erb in 1996 and by friend and companion, Jim Connell of Codys; siblings Verna Kincade, Zelda Carle, Donna Varga, Margaret Shaw, Russell, Ronald and Norval Kincade and two infant siblings Glenda and Shirley.
She is resting at Reid’s Funeral Home, 1063 Main Street, Hampton, (506) 832-5541, with visitation on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Robert Marsh will be held from Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 11AM, followed by interment in Hampton Rural Cemetery.
