Obituary of Joel Chiswell
It is with great sadness, the family of Joel Christopher Chiswell announces his unexpected passing in Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, May 5, 2014.He was born on August 17, 1984 in Saint John, NB.
Joel is survived by his parents Paul & Janet (Quigley) Chiswell of Hampton, NB; brother Jared; paternal grandparents Richard & Norma Chiswell; maternal grandmother Eva Quigley; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Joel was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Charles Quigley; cousins Karen Quigley and Anthony Robinson.
Joel graduated from Hampton High School in 2002. Joel liked to write poetry and was published on Poetry.com. He loved sports, playing baseball, football, skateboarding and snowboarding and was on the HHS football team. He was a member of Scouts Canada for over 10 years in Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Ventures. He attained his Chief Scout Award and his Venturer Company was the first co-ed company in Hampton.
Joel was employed at Source Atlantic in Saint John, NB before moving to Edmonton, Alberta where he was employed at Universal Machine and Toll Industries. After moving to Lethbridge, Alberta, he was indentured as a Heavy Equipment Technician at Charlton & Hill Welding Ltd. and more recently as a floor hand at Jomax Drilling (1988) Ltd.
Joel was a smart, cheerful person, diligent and dedicated in both work and family life. He had a big heart and always gave willingly to others. He will be sadly missed by all.
Visitation will take place Thursday May 29, 2014 at Reid’s Funeral Home from 3pm until 7pm. A private family service will be held at a later date.
