It is with great sadness that the family of Ian Paterson Smith announces his passing which occurred on September 9, 2020 at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre, Hampton, NB. Born in Saint John, NB on April 12, 1943, he was a son of the late Edward and Davidina (Paterson) Smith. Ian is survived by his three daughters: Bridget Coughlan (Darren Chadwick) of Hampton, NB, Anna Lake (Daniel Kennedy) of Lakeside, NB, and Kalie Andrews (Leonard) of Grand Bay, NB and well loved grandchildren: Joshua, Grace, Chance, Chelsey, Cole, Cody, Cecelia, Cash, Cooper, Calie, Zachary, Sebastian, Amelia and Freya. Over the years, Ian was employed by the insurance and security industry and the Department of Transportation from which he retired. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a kind and gentle man. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB and due to Ian’s wishes, no services will be held. Donations in memory of Ian may be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue League or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
