Obituary of Gerry Bedard

We are sad to announce the loss of a proud Hamptonian. At the age of 81, Gerald J. (Gerry) Bedard passed away peacefully at the Snow Centre July 1st, 2020 surrounded with love from members of his family and with the very best of care from the extraordinary and dedicated Snow Centre staff. Born in Montreal, QC, on April 16, 1939, he was the son of the late Edith (nee Partridge) and Arthur Bedard of Beaconsfield, QC. His much-loved career as a dental supply sales rep led him to the east coast where he discovered Hampton, NB, eventually becoming his home town. His career was brought to an unexpected halt due to a brain tumour in the late 80’s, but in keeping with his character, the resulting life altering challenges were met with courage, optimism, perseverance and a renewed appreciation for life’s ultimate treasures - health, happiness, friends and family. His general contentment was reflected in his happy whistle which could be heard as he puttered about in his garden and tended to other daily projects and chores. Gerry leaves behind four children: Kathy English (Lloyd), Donna Fry (Jeremy), Bill (Lisa) and Susan Wardle (Kevin); seven grandchildren: John, Brad, Katie, Cassie, Mitchell, Ben, Nolan; and six great grandchildren. The family would like to extend profound gratitude to the many kind-hearted people who contributed to Gerry’s happiness and quality of life - especially to his dear friend Mary Stewart. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, and due to COVID-19 restrictions, Gerry’s visitation will be modified. There will be an in vehicle visitation held on Wednesday, August 5th, 2020, from 3:30pm to 6:00pm at the Senior’s Resource Centre, 31 Demille Court, Hampton. A private family interment will follow at Hampton Rural Cemetery. In keeping with Gerry’s community mindedness and love for Hampton, the family asks in lieu of flowers, to please consider a donation to any of the following: HALL, Hampton Pro Kids or the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre Foundation. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
