Obituary of William Donovan

It is with great sadness that the family of William "Bill" Leo Patrick Donovan announces his passing which occurred peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit surrounded by his loving family. Born in Saint John, NB on January 16, 1941, he was the son of the late Francis and Irene (Gamblin) Donovan. Bill is survived by his loving wife Glenora (Melanson) Donovan; children: Pennie Braun of Saint John, NB, Billy (Diane) Donovan of Quispamsis, NB, Glenora (Robert) Clark of Quispamsis, NB, and Corrina Hall (Bill Ford) of Norton, NB; grandchildren: Sara, Kayla, Luke, Gregory, Jeffrey, Megan and Jacob; several great grandchildren; brother Francis (Nelena) Donovan of Grand Bay; sisters: Margaret (Bruce) Smith of Ontario, Norma McCutcheon of Saint John, NB, and Joan (Dan) Rogers of Chipman, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bill also leaves behind his canine companion, Sabby. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his 2 brothers; Butch Donovan and Fred Masson, also a sister; Bernice in infancy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), Hampton, NB. No visitation as per Bill’s wishes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 30th 2019, at 10 am from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Upham, NB, followed by a reception in the church hall. Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the many Physicians involved in Bill’s care, also the nursing staff of KV Extra Mural and the amazing staff at the Palliative Care Unit of Saint John Regional Hospital.
