Obituary of Nancy McGrath

It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Ann Lorraine McGrath of Hampton, NB, announces her passing, which occurred peacefully on November 16, 2019, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on April 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Campbell) Whittaker. Nancy and Gerry returned to Hampton in 1997 where they have been blessed with many, many wonderful and cherished friends and neighbours. Nancy was a proud member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church as well as the St. Paul’s Mother’s Union in Hampton. Over the years she was involved with many organizations. She was Queen with the Hampton Red Hatters and a member of the Saint John Senior’s Bowling League. &p; Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Gerald McGrath; children Trudy McGrath (Kevin Duff) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, Nancy "Buffy" McGrath (Daniel Crabbe) of Fredericton, NB, and Sean McGrath (Stephanie) of Lower Coverdale, NB; grandchildren Emily Duff, Samuel McGrath, Sydney McGrath, Nathaniel Crabbe, Ben Duff and Kristy Crabbe; brother-in-law Bernie McGrath (Eileen); sisters-in-law Hazel Whittaker and Marion Lenihan; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her brother Bruce Whittaker. Nancy is also survived and dearly missed by her loving canine companion, Sooner. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11:00 am from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Interment will take place at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Nancy recently enjoyed attending her 60th high school class reunion and the family would like to suggest the donations in memory of Nancy be made to the St. Vincent’s Alumnae Scholarship Fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
