Obituary of Charles Tucker

On November 16th, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Saint John, on the occasion of his 91st birthday, Charles Freeman Tucker left his earthly body and entered the presence of his Lord. Born in 1928, in Kingston, NB, he was the only son of the late Edwin and Minnie (Bolser) Tucker. He was affectionately known as Chuck, Charlie or Charles. He was completely devoted to his faith and family and was a loyal friend to many. He worked as an insurance salesman as well as a milkman before becoming a carpenter for the majority of his life. Many buildings and homes benefitted from his quality craftsmanship. That being said, he was truly a jack of all trades. He was a member of numerous Baptist churches including Main Street, Tabernacle and Hampton where he was actively engaged as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, elder, clerk and trustee. His pastimes included oil painting, wood working and camping at Grand Lake. Charles is survived and remembered by his loving wife Muriel (Reid) Tucker; sons: Stephen (Ida) Tucker of Hampton, NB, and Eric Tucker of Fredericton, NB; daughter Shelly (David) McCready of Saint John, NB; son-in-law Richard Gibbs; grandsons: Shawn Tucker, Ben (Andrea) Gibbs, Chad (Jaelyn) Tucker, Zachary (Kendra) Legacy, Julian (Kada) Legacy, and Christopher McCready; grandson-in-law Andrew Allen; granddaughters: Katie Gibbs and Erika (Jordan) Pinksen; great grandchildren: Lacey Allen, Cameron Gibbs, Sora Legacy, Issac Legacy and Bentley Hamm; step-children: Richard (Sarah) Albert and Shelley Thiessen; step-grandchildren: Grace Albert, Joe Albert, Adam Doris and Richard Doris; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy (Darrah) Tucker in 1999; infant son Bruce Tucker in 1960; daughter Charlene Gibbs in 2018; granddaughter Lisa Allen in 2018; and sisters: Marie Hersey, Marguerite Reid, Wealthy Dean and Edwina Finlay. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20th, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 21st, 2019 at 11:00am from Hampton Baptist Church.
