Obituary of Murray Smith
The family of Murray Ivan Smith, 67 of Lakeside, NB, announces his passing on Tuesday May 7th, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sussex, NB, he was a son of the late Murray and Glendine (Smith) Smith. Murray is survived by his wife Janice Irene (Keys) Smith, his children; Christopher Smith (Trisha) of Hampton, Tanya Copp (Elias) of Sussex and Amy Forsythe (Colin) of Saint John, brothers; Bruce Smith (Yvonne) of Sussex, Robert Smith of Norton, a sister Sharon Murray (George) of Saint John, 4 grandchildren; Isaiah, Abbie, Zoë and Emma.
Murray enjoyed going for drives, playing cards, music and TV, especially the oldies. He was also a bargain hunter always looking for a good deal.
Murray worked as a welder at New Yorker Boiler for 42 years which he enjoyed until he retired in 2016.
Most of all, Murray loved his wife, Janice, and their family. He was happiest when his kids and their friends were around. He especially looked forward to visits from his grandkids. Murray always had treats for any child who showed up.
He will be remembered as a generous and giving person who was always concerned about the well being of others.
Murray will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Friday, May 10th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11th, at 2:00pm from Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel.
