After a period of failing health, Donald Harold Thorne of Bloomfield, NB, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 22, 2019. Born in Saint John, NB on September 14, 1937, he was a son of the late William and Myrtle (Devine) Thorne. Donald is the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents and wife of 48 years, Mary (Gillieo), Don was also predeceased by his brothers; Norman, Osborne, Ralph and Gerald and his sister; Gertrude (Trudy) Allen. Don is survived by one son; Michael and Tammy (Warfield) Thorne and several nieces and nephews. Don worked at the Telegraph Journal as a printer for 18 years and then turned to carpentry work until retirement. Don will be best remembered for his hobby farm where he enjoyed raising a variety of birds, from chickens to peacocks and his special little dog Maggie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, at Don’s request there will not be any visitation or service.
