We were deeply saddened to learn of Scott's passing. When I was growing up Scott was literally the boy next door at Smith's Cove, the eldest brother of my dear friend Ann. He was always on the go - swimming, water skiing and bocce and baseball on the sand flats to name a few of many activities he enjoyed in the summer. I also have great memories of him playing hockey in Truro, We feel very fortunate that we were able to spend time with Scott this past summer playing bocce, swimming and enjoying a bonfire. We have great admiration of this multi-talented man who faced his debilitating illness with grace and determination. 37 years ago at 13 yrs old I was one of Dr. Giffens first patients in NewGlasgow , N.S where I was born. He had the difficult task in diagnosing and treating me for Cancer.. He had his his hands full not only with coaching me through my treatments but also with dealing with my family of 5 nurses. If it werent for him , his kind heart and his beautiful smile Im not sure I would have survived that horrible year . At 13 he was hero in my eyes and I will never forget him. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing and I am sure that he has touched many people who were fortunate enough to have him as their Doctor or friend .
