It is with profound sadness that the family of David Malcolm MacFarlane of Saint John, formerly of Hampton, announce his passing at the Rocmaura Nursing home on Tuesday August 28th, 2018. Born in Summerside PEI 80 years ago, he was the son of the late Harry B. and Burness N. (Radcliffe) MacFarlane. David is survived by his wife Anne M. (Sears) MacFarlane, his son Robert (Bob) MacFarlane (Darlah) and his daughter Kim MacFarlane (Dan Smith), 1 granddaughter; Sarah Snodgrass (Will) and 3 great-grandchildren; Braelynn, Landon and Layla. David was a kind and caring family man who enjoyed trailering, cars, dogs, fiddle music, travel and photography. He loved his children and Granddaughter dearly. David began his career in the automotive industry in 1962 at White Motors in Saint John, where he met and married Anne, the love of his life, who worked for competitor International Harvester. They were married for 56 years. He worked for various car companies, making many lasting friendships over the years before retiring from Parkway Mercury (Downey Ford) in 1995. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB where visitation will be held on Friday, August 31st, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday, September 1st, 2018 at 11:00am from Reid’s Funeral Chapel. Donations in memory of David may be made to Hospice of Greater Saint John, Rocmaura Nursing Home or the Alzheimer’s Society.
