Obituary of Karl Beyea

The family of Karl Wetmore Beyea, aged 87 formerly of Smithtown, regret to announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday June 5th 2018. Born in Smithtown he was the son of the late Karl Wetmore Beyea and Phoebe Marguerite (Hopper) Beyea. Karl was known for his keen intellect. He graduated from Hampton Consolidated School in 1947 as Valedictorian and received the Birks Medal for highest standing and the Governor General's Medal for English. He scored the highest math matriculation in the province. He graduated from UNB in 1951 with a B.Sc., major in Chemistry. He worked on the family farm and saw mill. He also worked as an electrical contractor. He co-authored the Beyea Genealogy book as the family history was a passion of his. He also went to the reunions of various families in the area where people would consult him about the family relations. He was known to be able to correctly trace people's ancestry in his head. He served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Acadian Loyalist Cemetery Association. He was steadfast in his faith in Jesus. He was a lifelong member of Nauwigewauk Christian Church where he served in several roles; most notably as Elder and Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for over 50 years. He was devoted to his family, and will be missed by brothers William (Nina); and David; nieces and nephews Liza (Shane), Paul (Katie), Andrew, Mary (Brian), Phoebe (Randy), and Katherine; several great nieces and nephews and one great great niece. Karl was predeceased by his parents, 2 twin sisters; Alice Hill Beyea and Mina Keirstead Beyea and a nephew William. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation will be held on Friday, June 8th, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Karl’s Life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday June 9th 2018 at the Nauwigewauk Christian Church. Interment will be in the Acadian Loyalist Cemetery, Smithtown. The family would like to thank Agape Home and Kennebec Manor for their loving care of Karl. Donations in memory of Karl may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Nauwigewauk Christian Church or to a memorial of the donor’s choice.
